When You Owe Your Life to Someone: Life Lessons from my Biggest Cancer Battle

Andy Burrows had already battled non-Hodgkin's lymphoma three times in eight years when he got the news in 2018 that it was back again and it was high grade.

There was one thing left to try - an allogeneic stem cell transplant, using cells from a donor.

This turned out to be the beginning of a long journey. Andy describes it as his Mount Everest, the hardest thing he has been through, by far.

With engaging honesty and vulnerability, he describes the treatment process that was both physically hard as well as mentally, emotionally and spiritually demanding. And he passes on the positive life lessons he learnt along the way.

This book also contains a helpful chapter from Anna, the stem cell donor, who describes herself as Andy's "genetic twin", as she explains how she came to be a donor, how she was selected and how the cells were harvested.

If you're heading for a stem cell transplant, or if you've been selected for a donor pool, this will help you prepare.

But, also, on another level, how can we prepare for any of the great challenges we might face in life, whatever they may be? There's a lot of value in learning some lessons from someone who has come through adversity.
