When the Stone Stayed Silent: Power chose her. The world did not.

When the Stone Stayed Silent
Power chose her. The world did not.

---

What if the world decided you were worthless… just as you discovered you could save it?

In the walled city of Gravenreach, power is everything. Each year, the young step forward to touch the ancient testing Stone — the one relic said to reveal who is destined for greatness and who will live and die as ordinary labor.

Elowen Mirelle already knows what it feels like to be overlooked. So when the Stone stays silent beneath her hand, her fate seems sealed.

Ordinary. Disposable. Forgotten.

But the land beyond the city walls whispers a different truth.

Where others see poisoned wasteland, Elowen feels something stirring — decay that answers her touch, life that flickers where nothing should grow. She hides her impossible ability the only way she knows how: by joining the dangerous cleanup crews sent into the Black Verge, where the powerless are sent to survive or disappear.

Then the authorities begin hunting an unregistered energy source in the very zones where she works.

Now Elowen is trapped between forces that would weaponize her, a power she barely understands, and a growing bond with someone who might not survive the truth. The more she uses her gift, the stronger she becomes… and the more she fears what that strength might cost.

Because the Verge isn’t just spreading.

It’s responding.

And if the wrong people claim her first, the girl the Stone rejected may become the spark that changes everything — for better or for ruin.

Step into a world of hidden power, slow-burn connection, and a fight for survival where healing and destruction are two sides of the same choice.
