When Time Is at a Premium

In When Time Is at a Premium, Windy Dryden, one of the key experts in the field of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), shows how it is possible to work very briefly with people in both a therapy and coaching context. In these times of increasing need and limited resources, Professor Dryden considers that therapists and coaches need to be flexible and be able to offer a range of services to a varied clientele. As the title indicates, sometimes, for a variety of reasons, time is at a premium and therapists and coaches are called upon to work very briefly with people. If they wish to rise to this challenge, particularly if they already have a background in cognitive-behavioural interventions, they will find this book of value.

Part 1 describes a form of single-session therapy developed by Windy Dryden and which he calls 'Single-Session Integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy' (SSI-CBT), a four point of contact model that falls within the definition of Single-Session Therapy developed by Moshe Talmon, one of the pioneers in this field.

In Part 2, Professor Dryden describes a form of very brief coaching that he has also developed and which he calls 'Very Brief Cognitive Behavioural Coaching' (VBCBC)which can range from one to three sessions.
