About the Author

James D. Braman is a native of Bremerton, WA, where he was an Eagle Scout in Troop 511. He received a degree in Civil Engineering and an MS in Regional Planning from the University of Washington. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and two other honorary societies. He served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II, including periods in New Guinea and the Philippines He attained the rank of captain.

His professional career in city planning included seven years as director of planning for Denver and six years as director of community development for Seattle. He served as a planning and development consultant for fifteen years before retiring from full-time employment in 1990. He has written for many publications and has been featured speaker for numerous local and national organizations. Where the Fuzzy Marmots Grow is his first full-length book.
