A Whiff of Whimsy

A Whiff of Whimsy is just that— a collection of entertaining pieces on disparate subjects, ranging from personal foibles, social mores and current events to dysfunctional domesticity, pet peeves and growing old. The common threads of whimsy, sarcasm and amusing observations about human nature and urban life run through them. K.C. Verma finds much to be joyous about in everyday life— from ageing gracefully to the ambiguous dé tente with the ‘ little woman’ . Besides heaping scorn on whatever he considers unacceptable conduct on the part of the rest of the world, he does not shy away from ridiculing the quirky behaviour of total strangers, neighbours and even his relatives. The charming narration of the improbable situations that Verma finds himself in is guaranteed to strike a sympathetic chord with readers across different age groups. A Whiff of Whimsy is an eclectic mix of opinions and satire, as also impish observations about the not-so-simple business of leading humdrum lives. It will leave you with a good feeling, and a sense of having been on a highly enjoyable journey.

K.C. Verma retired as chief of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) after working for about 40 years in the fields of intelligence, drug law enforcement and grassroots-level policing.
