Whiskey and Sweet Tea (Paperback or Softback)

In a rugged Afghan medical unit, no-nonsense Major Vivian Palmer-a surgeon devoted solely to her craft-is tasked with treating the injured country music star, Kade Atwood. With his concert postponed and the camp in desperate need of his performance, Kade tries every charm in the book to persuade her to delay his treatment. It quickly becomes clear, however, that he's met his match.

Major Palmer never envisioned anything beyond the operating room, leaving a comfortable life far behind when she becomes the military's chief medical officer in Afghanistan. Determined to always put the job first, the wounded country singer, Kade Atwood, arrives with a smooth southern drawl and a trove of soulful songs that slowly coax her common sense and heart into yielding. Their fragile attraction is brutally shattered the night the Taliban overrun the camp and kidnaps her-forcing Kade to step up as her unexpected protector.

Dragged into a deadly game where the enemy demands an impossible surgery for her survival, the unlikely pair must navigate treacherous territory under the watchful eye of a brutal Taliban leader. As Kade rises to the challenge of safeguarding Vivian and engineering a risky escape, the stark reality of their predicament sets in. When a Black Hawk helicopter finds them wandering in the desert, their flight to safety is marked by escalating peril, tragic losses, and a fierce confrontation.

A manipulating general sends Vivian away as despair threatens to extinguish their fragile connection. After searching eighteen months for answers to what went wrong, Kade discovers a single, hidden photograph of Vivian that brings him closer to finding her. When he uncovers an Afghan's sinister plot to retaliate against Vivian, new alliances spark a desperate search to protect her before the ultimate betrayal takes place. Only time will tell if forgiveness can be powerful enough to mend both their shattered hearts.
