Whisperings From FAR WEST

Whisperings of Far West reveals the fascinating history of a once prominent Mormon settlement that has all but disappeared. Though the city, (the first county seat of Caldwell County, Missouri), rose and was destroyed in a very short time span, the riveting scenes that occurred there form a vital part of Mormon history and reveal much about the emotional, political, spiritual and physical struggles of an oppressed and misunderstood people, who were striving to serve their God against overwhelming odds. The historical vignettes within this book, enhanced by poems, ballads, parables and sonnets, give voice to the compelling history of those faithful Saints who lived at Far West, and provide a spiritually powerful framework for truly understanding their lives and destiny.

Keith Shurtleff is a native of Utah and a life long Latter-day Saint. He has served his country as both a Navy JAG Officer and an Army Chaplain. While in the Army he obtained an MA-T in philosophy and served as an ethics instructor. He and his wife Nina are the parents of eight children. He is the winner of the Chief of Chaplain's Essay Award on leadership and has pubished several articles in professional journals. He is the author of two self-published books about the LDS faith, including Whited Tombs, and God, Our Eternal Father. Upon retirement from the Army he and his family plan on moving to Far West.
