An interesting an informative look at Antarctica exploring the unknown life that survives there. In the original price-clipped dustwrapper. At this time of this book publication in 1950, the Antarctic was still largely being discovered. This books tells the reader everything they need to know about life up there, including the lives of the leopard seals, killer whales, and emperor penguins. Thomas Henry's love for polar exploration began when he was a child, and in 1946 - 1947 he accompanied Admiral Byrd on an expedition to the Antarctic, which subsequently gave him the knowledge and passion to write this book. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally smart. Very light discolouration to the edges of the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine, and to the extremities. Small mark to the white cloth to the hinge at rear board. Light offsetting to the recto of the front endpaper. Dustwrapper has some edgewear and like rubbings to the leaves. Small chip to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed.
