The “horror” is conceptual in nature, as would be seen by a neutral, uninvolved observer. Cabell produced escapist literature using magic, myth, and supernatural elements, adding satire and irony. It appears he found much of his material from researching historical documents. Eight (8) full-page illustrations by Robert E. Locher. Included is original slip case. This book is in my inventory and the images are of this particular item. *** Faux wood paper boards with beveled edges, brown leather spine with gilt lettering. Rough cut page edges, some still unopened. Covers clean with very light rubbing along joints, spine ends worn. Contents clean and complete in solid binding.
