Lavender cover, vertically ribbed with stunning purple, cream, and gold cover design by Margaret Armstrong with her monogram at bottom. Small mark on front cover, some sun fading and marks on back cover, some foxing inside back cover, fore edge has some chipping; trimmed head is gilt. Frontispiece with tissue guard in color . Preface by Elizabeth A. Reed Chicago, February, 1912. Title page vignette printed in red and black; all text is framed in a black border with red chapter headings and margin heads.
