White Trash Rising: Lessons My Mother Taught Me

White Trash Rising
-Lessons My Mother Taught Me-

Just when you think you have escaped your life, it comes back twice as strong.

White Trash Rising is a memoir from an author disgusted by poverty porn. This is a real story, often funny, frequently heartbreaking, describing poverty, abuse, and generational trauma.

White Trash Rising-Lessons My Mother Taught Me- begins with the anticipation of the birth of a baby, the author. Born into the turbulent 1960s, the author came home to a shack with no indoor plumbing and uneducated parents. President Johnson’s War on Poverty forgot this family.

Rising from poverty, June found her escape in education. But the generations of unrecognized trauma followed her journey from a run-down farm in Minnesota to the mountains of Nevada. Patterns learned will be repeated until acknowledged and broken. White Trash Rising takes the reader on a journey of learning and acceptance.
