Who Ate Baby Jesus? (Paperback or Softback)

Every December, the Murphy household nativity scene descends into chaos. Someone's always to blame - usually a dog. Sometimes it's the camel. It's never Baby Jesus's fault, though he has lost his legs on more than one occasion.

Who Ate Baby Jesus? is a true story told by two dogs and a human: Debra Murphy and her Border Collies Beatrix and Florence. Spanning 2014 to 2025, it charts a decade of family Christmases thrown into disarray by canine mischief, emergency sewing repairs, and the kind of chaos that only makes a family closer.

Beatrix, Debra's beloved first collie, narrates the early years with all the confidence of a dog who has never once caused a problem on purpose. The wise men have opinions. The sheep are not safe. And when Beatrix is gone, Florence picks up the story - younger, bolder, and just as sure she's blameless.

Funny, warm, and unexpectedly moving, this is a book about the stories we tell ourselves to get through the hard years, and the animals who help us tell them.

Debra Murphy is a Yorkshire-born, Scotland-based author whose latest book, Who Ate Baby Jesus?, is a true story told by two dogs and a human - Debra herself, and her Border Collies Beatrix and Florence - charting a decade of family nativity chaos. She is also the author of the planned 23-book Magical Adventures of Florence the Border Collie children's series, alongside Campervan Capers, Beatrix the Time Travelling Collie, and The Magical Tearoom on the Hill. Having twice faced life-threatening health crises that reshaped her path - from running a training company to owning a tearoom to becoming a full-time author and speaker - Debra writes and speaks from the belief that stories heal: they heal the people who read them, and they heal the people who write them.
