Who Is Jesus Christ?: Understanding His Divinity and Our Salvation

Why did humanity need Christ? What does it mean to call Him the Son of God? How can the One who shares the Father’s glory also pray, suffer and die?

With the directness of a pastor and close attention to Scripture, Bishop Youannis of Gharbia explores the Christian confession of Jesus Christ. He brings together the promises of the Old Testament, Christ’s words and miracles, and the worship offered to Him, showing how His divinity and His saving work belong together.

The book also faces passages that readers often find difficult: Christ’s growth in wisdom, His prayers to the Father, His suffering on the cross, and His obedience. Written within the Coptic Orthodox tradition, it invites readers beyond isolated proof texts towards a connected understanding of the Incarnation and salvation.

Clear, earnest and rich in biblical detail, this complete English translation offers a thoughtful companion for personal study, parish reading and anyone seeking to know more deeply the Saviour in whom Christians place their hope.
