She Who Is Without Sin (Paperback or Softback)

It's the 1950s in rural upstate New York, and Ruthie appears to be doing as her society dictates for women: she's running her family's dairy farm, after her father's death, and caring for her ailing mother. But a big spotlight is about to be turned on Ruthie's truth.

That light comes in the form of a woman named Ruth, who applies for the caretaker position Ruthie advertises. Over six months, the women of She Who Is without Sin fall in love and plunge into intimacy.

An ordained minister, lawyer, and judge who was herself raised in rural New York and who came out as gay when she was an adult, Martha Emily Bellinger has written a lesbian love story like no other. Its focus on the progressive spiritual aspects of being brought to your lover by God's plan will speak not only to baby boomer lesbians but younger LGBT seeking to better understand those who paved the way.

About the Author: Martha Emily Bellinger, a retired California Superior Court judge of 20 years and former ordained United Methodist minister, is the author of a 2011 memoir, From Robe to Robe, and a critically acclaimed debut novel, The Two Ruths, in which two women meet in Upstate New York, fall in love, and build a life together, in spite of the secrecy that society demanded in 1952. In She Who Is Without Sin, the author demonstrates how the love story of all time may just be a lesbian love story.
