Who Do You Say That I Am?: Lent and Easter Reflections for a Holy City

In Who Do You Say I Am?, poetry, prayers, art and scripture meditations come together to create a dramatic companion for contemplating the death and resurrection of Christ from a contemporary, urban perspective. Arranged in 14 sections, reflections by Joanne Grenfell and sonnets by Adam Atkinson touches on contemporary themes such as identity, truth telling, violence, abuse, racism, and belonging in relation to being a follower of Jesus. Each is powerfully illustrated with original paintings by artist Ali Mulroy. In today's social landscapes, our streets are alive with vibrancy and colour, but can also be places of loneliness, violence and racism. Imagining the events at the heart of the Christian story happening there challenges us to consider how we live as faithful followers of Jesus. In a quicksilver culture where truth is contested, we are invited to contemplate walking a path of integrity, courage and wisdom.

Joanne Grenfell is the Bishop of Stepney and previously lectured in English at Oriel College Oxford.

Adam Atkinson is the Bishop of Bradwell. His poetry has been used in public and liturgical settings.
