That's Why They Call It Practice (Paperback)

Paperback. From providing as assist to a silverback gorilla undergoing surgery to spending a long morning in pursuit of a loose peacock harassing the nuns and students at a local Catholic school, Dr. Ed Migneco has rarely had a dull day at work. Even the routine dog and cat visits in his veterinary office and animal rescue work carry moments of drama, triumph, and heartbreak that often reveal as much about the humans involved as the animals themselves. The St. Louis veterinarian has close to 40 years' experience, and his longtime practice, Hillside Animal Hospital, opened more than 60 years ago as one of the first veterinary clinics in the city.In the collection of short and poignant stories, Dr. Ed employs a gentle humor and sharp observation to share tales reminiscent of James Herriot's work in "All Creatures Great and Small." The incredible bonds between people and their pets make these pages relatable for readers of every age. And don't be surprised if you recognize yourself or someone you know in the anecdotes about poorly explained symptoms, miraculous recoveries, embarrassing dog behaviors, and moments of hope for animal in desperate situations! As dr. Ed writes, among his veterinary friends, "we all seem to have the same clients, just the names have been changed to protect the innocent." This item is printed on demand.
