Why Does It Hurt presents a whole new viewpoint on the way our bodies work using FDM, the Fascial Distortion Model,. Fascia is the fibrous connective tissue that permeates our bodies and holds everything together. Distorted fascia is often the cause of pain that may not respond to traditional treatments of physical therapy or anti-inflammatory drugs. Dr. Todd Capistrant is an osteopathic physician who has increasingly centered his practice on the Fascial Distortion Model. In addition to his busy osteopathic manipulative practice, he currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Tanana Valley Clinic/Banner Health in Fairbanks, Alaska. He is a board member of the AFDMA, and routinely engaged as one of its instructors to teach the FDM throughout the world. He also serves as a regional dean for Pacific Northwest University, an osteopathic medical school located in Yakima, Washington, bringing Alaskan osteopathic students back to Fairbanks for training. Todd lives near Denali National Park with his wife and two daughters who maintain a sled dog kennel and farm homestead. Both he and his wife have competed in and finished the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
