They called her April because it was in that month that she lost her memory and Adam Farquhar found her wandering along the road out of Glasgow. They added Saunders to it because the young woman had to have a name and A.S. were the initials on her clothes.
April proved to be an attractive addition to the party which subsequently set off for a holiday in the Wild Goose, the caravan bought by Katherine Raeside in one of her more expansive moments. Her brother, in a more calcultaing frame of mind, had discovered a clue to the long-lost family treasure of Aunt Philithea - so far as elusive as April's memory - and his avowed intention on the trip was to search for it. The aims of the rest of the party were not so easily apparent, but each of them had a personal quest of some sort or another.
Treasure can usually be found if you know how to look for it, as most of the Wild Goose party discovered; it is whether you recognise it when you come across it that counts.
