Wild Places (Paperback)

Wild Places invites men into the wilderness to discover rest and a deeper connection with oneself and God. On his father’s back, a boy takes his first steps into nature, beginning a lifelong adventure of faith, healing, and discovery.

Blending memoir, practical outdoor wisdom, spiritual reflection, and encouragement, Wild Places addresses the quiet crises of modern men, including burnout, disconnection, and loss of purpose. Through stories of business collapse, fatherhood, and time spent in the wild, Matt shows how God’s creation becomes a sanctuary for healing and clarity. Each chapter weaves outdoor experiences with Scripture and hard-earned spiritual insight, offering both inspiration and guidance.

From stillness beside a mountain stream to the laughter of a shared adventure, and through quiet moments in a local garden to the transformative work of forgiveness, Wild Places shows men how to listen deeply, rest fully, and step into the wholeness God intended.

Grounded in honest storytelling and rooted in faith, Wild Places is more than reflection; it is a call to action. Step into the wild not to escape, but to be renewed, restored, and equipped to live with purpose, courage, and faith.

George Madison Potts, commonly known as Matt, has been an avid outdoorsman since childhood, exploring wilderness areas through hiking, fly fishing, hunting, and bow hunting. For several years, he professionally outfitted and guided backpacking expeditions in the Colorado and Wyoming mountains, helping men and women enjoy the outdoors.

Matt also had a long and successful career as a self-employed CPA, bringing a unique perspective on the stresses and challenges of modern life. He lives in the Denver, Colorado suburbs with his wife, Erin, and together they have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.
