The Will of God Is it Any Thing Other than Good and Acceptable and Perfect? The word of God is given to us with the intention of teaching us how to achieve and maintain a relationship with Him that will lead to eternal life. We were created for His praise and glory. The only way He is glorified in and through us is when we seek after, and abide in His will for us. The first act of disobedience happened as a result of Satan’s ability to convince God’s creation to challenge His will for them. As a result of that, he has been able, down through the ages, to keep the belief alive that God doesn’t really mean what He has said. God’s word is the only accurate explanation we have of who He is. It describes His attributes, and should lead to an understanding of the nature of His will for us, which is clearly described in His word. (Romans 12:1, 2) The manifestation of the accuracy of this description is demonstrated throughout the scriptures. Our ability to accomplish His will for us is also shown through His inspired word. (Isaiah 55:6, 7; Acts 2:38; Romans 12:1, 2; Matthew 6:9, 10) In studying the Word of God, two things are shown-either God’s will or man’s will. Jesus, Himself demonstrated this in His prayers.
