Very good clean tight sound square, ex-libris Hilary and Stephen Tunnicliffe with their attractive bookplate to pastedown of each vol with resultant light offset browning, gift inscription form Hilary to Stephen in each vol, light and easily erasable pencil notes to endpapers vol I (perhaps useful?) and very very occasional light pencil marginal lines to volume I, tender to hinge at half-title, lacking fly-leaf vol I. Bound in bright gilt lettered and blind framed pale blue cloth, gently sunned and lightly rubbed to spines, else very good. Sir Edmund Kerchever Chambers, KBE, CB, FBA, usually cited as E. K. Chambers, was an English literary critic and Shakespearean scholar. 'An utterly seminal work of scholarship.
