Wind Enough: 1 (Vondra Ranch)

Ada Ferrell climbed three-hundred-foot wind turbines for nine years and never once thought about the town she left at eighteen. Then her grandfather died in his chair with the radio on, and left her the only windmill repair shop in a hundred miles of Nebraska Sandhills, a truck with a gin pole, a deaf dog, and forty ranches whose cattle will die without her.

She came back to sell it. She keeps not selling.

Tom Vondra runs nineteen thousand acres of grass, nine hundred cows, and a bank note his father left him. He has thirty-eight windmills and cannot climb one of them; he fell from the tower in the Black Angus pasture at fifteen and his father told him to stay on the ground where he was some use. He has been on the ground ever since.

Turnout is May tenth. The wind company that wants Tom's ridge wants Ada too, and has made her an offer she has not turned down. She has until the fifteenth of July to say so. She has not told him.

First in the Vondra Ranch series: four siblings, one ranch, and the wind that has always been enough. Steamy small-town western romance with a guaranteed happy ending, a lot of hotdish, and a windmill on every rise.
