Reviews: Unlike the authors of most other books on windsurfing, who first go into sailing theory, equipment, safety, etc., Preuss gets the novice right into the water and up on the board. His approach is clear and illustrated by beautiful, detailed color photographs that should help and encourage the beginner. After taking the reader through the basic maneuvers, he proceeds to sailing theory, tides, safety, knots, racing, etc. While his technique is good and presented well, his coverage of the wide range of boards and other equipment is negligible. Libraries wishing to cover both beginners and intermediates might do well to purchase Ernstfried Prade's The Complete Windsurfing Guide ( LJ 10/15/82), which is similar but has more material on equipment and techniques.
