WineTrails of Washington, 2nd Edition completely updates the best-selling original guide. New photos, new wineries, new WineTrails, new winery dogs and much more comprise this lovingly renewed guide. WineTrails of Washington, 2nd Edition makes it both easy and fun to experience the many tasting rooms throughout Washington. Trekking from tasting rooms housed in romantic chateaus to those occupying lovingly restored barns, you will learn firsthand why Washington wines get rave reviews. Local author Steve Roberts guides you through memorable wine tours, from Woodinville to Walla Walla. This book features 32 unique WineTrails, most of which can be experienced in a day or two. Profiles of each winery include a winery description, the winemaker s philosophy, photos, contact information and tasting room hours. You ll also find tips on tasting room etiquette and lessons from Wine Tasting 101. Take along this guide and read aloud as you uncork, swirl, and sip your way along the WineTrails!
Author Steve Roberts caught the wine bug in 2005 and has been working on a cure ever since one winery at a time. Since the release of the popular WineTrails of Washington guidebook in 2007, he's gone on to write wine-tour guidebooks for Oregon, Idaho, and Walla Walla. He's also ventured into the mobile publishing world with the release of two popular apps for Android and iPhone/iPad devices: WineTrails of Washington, The App and WineTrails of Walla, The App. When it comes to understanding the world of wine, however, Roberts knows full well that you never really know it. He understands that it is a lifetime pursuit, especially if you want to appreciate Northwest wines in relation to other great winemaking regions of the world. To this end, Roberts completed his certificate from the winemaking program at South Seattle Community College's acclaimed Northwest Wine Academy in 2012. States Roberts, So many of Washington s rock-star winemakers are graduates of this program. Understanding the art and science behind winemaking helps me to be a better guidebook author. Northwest Wine Academy taught me that it s more than a bottle of merlot; it s all the work in the vineyard and the vision of the winemaker that go into each vintage. That s the story I want to bring to my readers. A resident of Mercer Island, Washington, Roberts is an employee benefits broker for Wells Fargo Insurance. He is happily married to Kathleen Roberts, and between them, they have four adult children, three grandchildren, a couple of cats, and a dog named Gidget.
