Synopsis

The return of a World War II favorite. What to make the subject of the cartoon series? The timid G.I.? The blustering G.I.? The gripping G.I.? No, they'd been done. In fact, all the males in the Service had been glorified, or satirized, in a thousand different ways. But what about the females in the Service: those loyal members of the WAC who for so long now had been doing quiet, conscientious, thorough jobs, and receiving only a pittance of the praise they deserved? A cartoon character glorifying them, laughing with them rather than at them - that would be something worthwhile. And so Winnie came into being. She wasn't any one WAC in particular, just all WACs rolled into one, and one WAC representing all.
