Dust jacket with some chips and wear, notably the separation of the front panel from the spine. Dust jacket now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve. A review copy, with a label stating as such, dated Oct. 1, 1938, tipped in to the front pastedown. The author was a history professor at Whitman College. Here he answers the question asked by all students of Pacific Northwest History: Given English exploration, precedence, and establishment of Hudson's Bay Company forts and business activity, how did the Oregon Territory become an American claim, rather than British?
