Wipe the Hummus: A Tourist's Guide To The Israeli Mindset

On the one hand, Israelis are sociable and warm. On the other, they are skeptical and strong-willed. This unique combination, shaped by a blend of cultures, defines the character of the Israeli people.
This book focuses on two major sectors within Israeli society: the secular sector and the religious sector. It presents my personal perspective as an Israeli and offers a closer look at the traditions, customs, and values that shape each group. Through observations, insights, and practical tips, readers will gain a clearer understanding of the differences between these communities as well as the connections that bind them.
The book explores life in Israel's major cities, introduces people who are both warm and reserved, and sheds light on the challenges and complexities they face.
By the end, readers will be better equipped to engage with Israelis in a genuine and meaningful way, whether they are secular, observant, traditional, or somewhere in between. This book offers a deeper understanding of the people and the country at the heart of the Middle East.

The name Wipe the Hummus comes from the Israeli way of eating: with your hands, your friends, and zero patience for formality. It is a fitting symbol for a culture that values directness, warmth, and shared experiences.
