Wisdom from the First Christians: Reconstruction of the Original Faith

The words of the first Christians - Ignatius, Polycarp, Clement of Rome...

"Wisdom from the First Christians" takes you on a journey through time, as we go back to the 1st century to take a look into the minds of the first Christians, the men who were personally discipled by the Apostles. Their words offer a clear picture of what they believed, what they were taught and how they lived. Their books and letters offer wisdom and are a guide to help us interpret the scriptures in the way they were originally intended. These men did not only read the holy scriptures, but were there to hear the Apostles preach, interact with them and ask questions, giving them deep understanding of the authentic doctrine of Christ, before it began to be influenced and corrupted by the many doctrines of men that have crept in over the centuries. Some of these men met Jesus and some are commended in the bible, giving their words much authority! The writings of these first Christians have been highly esteemed throughout the centuries and continue to offer genuine insight & inspiration for Christians today.

Includes:

* The Epistle of Barnabas, 1st and 2nd Clement, 5 letters of Ignatius, The Shepherd of Hermas Trilogy, Polycarp to the Ephesians, and two long lost epistles of the Apostle Paul, one that is referred to in Colossians 4:16.

* An introduction for each book, as well as the history of how they have been regarded & used by the churches through the centuries.

* A large section of quotes, chronologically arranged by topic, starting with the men who were there in the first century, followed by those who remained faithful on that topic for several centuries thereafter.

May the words of these First Christians bring a ray of sunshine to an otherwise cloudy world.
