Don't You Wish Your Momma Could Cook Like Mine?

When Alex's mom yells, "Come and eat!" he turns in the other direction and tries to retreat. Young Alex will do anything to get out of eating what his mother cooks.  When Alex's mom cooks, Alex sees alien goop. He swears that he smells slimy green gobbledygook. He just doesn't understand how his mom can so cheerfully put together such strange meals--and how everyone else he knows can enjoy them so much--when all he wants to eat is fast food. The end of the story also features a reading exercise for readers to consider their own similar experiences and to test their reading and listening comprehension.
