The Wizard Of The Nile: Comic Opera In Three Acts (1895)

""The Wizard of the Nile"" is a comic opera written by Harry Bache Smith in 1895. The story takes place in ancient Egypt, where a young Pharaoh named Amenophis falls in love with a beautiful slave girl named Rhodope. However, Rhodope is already in love with a handsome soldier named Ramphis. To win Rhodope's heart, Amenophis enlists the help of a wizard named Hilarion, who uses his magic to transport the young Pharaoh to modern-day New York City. There, Amenophis experiences the wonders of the modern world, including electric lights and automobiles. However, he soon realizes that he must return to Egypt and win Rhodope's heart without the help of magic. The opera features catchy songs and lively dance numbers, and is a lighthearted romp through ancient Egypt and turn-of-the-century America. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
