Synopsis:

The further magical adventures of bumbling junior wizard Ben-Muzzy and his twin human companions.

From School Library Journal: Grade 3-5-- In a note that comes down the chimney on a broomstick, junior wizard Ben-Muzzy invites Joel and Gemma to meet him in the woods for more "FUN AND ADVENCHER." The twins, who were lost in many strange places because of the wizard's bumbling magic in The Wizard in the Woods (Candlewick, 1992), are ready. They take a whirlwind tour of Wonderland and other places populated with strange creatures, both friends and foes. The butterflylike Airy Fairies steal their broomstick; they encounter the absent-minded, big, furry walloper; the evil Paddiwack Gnomes; and the Great Nurdle Bore, who literally bores everyone stiff, before finding their way home. Too many characters and places prevent much development of any one; it's unfortunate because some of them are original and amusing. Fans of rapid plotting will be pleased; the book moves right along, and is liberally sprinkled with black-and-white ink cartoons. It's busier than the first book, but the light humor remains, and Ben-Muzzy's magical powers improve ever so slightly. --Carolyn Jenks, First Parish Unitarian Church, Portland, ME
