Hedge Row is a wonderful place to live, but the world outside of it is not always so. Being shoved into it by chaos pits two dogs against the jaws of the Outside. Filled with lovable characters and tenacious villains, the Wolves of the Road sets the series of Hedge Row Tales into motion, and a legend is born. In the beginning of the series, an aged dog is sharing a story to a huddle of "pups" in the fading light of soft ember glows. He says that there is a legend which will be good for them to hear, as they appear to be a bunch of rascals. He says that it really happened, and that he knew the dogs who went into the great evil of dark lairs and heartless crevices which life imposes at times. He says that they were brothers in bond but not blood, and that they laughed and snarled at much. He says they truly lived, and that they truly loved what was good to love. There were misunderstandings, and there was great pain. But they really lived.
