The second examines healing the Earth as a prerequisite to healing ourselves. The final section delves into womanism’s potential for constructing worlds and futures. In addition, Maparyan includes a section of works by womanist visual artists.

Layli Maparyan is a professor of Africana studies and executive director of the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. She is the author of The Womanist Idea and editor of The Womanist Reader.
