Womankind beyond the stereotypes

“Womankind: Beyond the Stereotypes was first drawn up for use in a pioneering course on the status of women at the University of California at Los Angeles. ‘Classroom tested’ for effectiveness, it is an exceptionally well-written and much-needed book for those interested in women’s changing image. . . . It is a compelling argument for dismantling the contemporary stereotypes restricting women to the roles of homemaker, wife, and mother. The scope of the book, combining a well-organized sampling of historical, empirical, and philosophical data, also makes it excellent supplementary reading for courses on social problems, cultural anthropology, American society, and the development of Western civilization.”
