Add to basketWoman's needlework account book, 24 pages in notebook. 10 1/2" x 8", plus 17 loose manuscript leaves, along with clippings and other ephemera; paper clip stains and minor edge wear, else clean and well-preserved. Created, we believe, in Ithaca, NY, between 1918 and 1927. This account book was kept by an unusually organized entrepreneur who did crochet work and embroidery, including collars, bags, caps, scarves and more. She made pieces to order for private customers, and also sold her wares at local shops and holiday events. Two of her pieces also won cash prizes at the 1924 Tompkins County Fair. This volume meticulously tracks each piece she worked on, breaks down the cost of materials, and gives its final sale price. Often the customer is noted as well. An interesting record by a working woman -- and a wonderful piece of Americana.
