Changing life roles can lead to an almost traumatic crisis of identity for many women. Having trained and re-trained in various skills, psychological, and coaching tools, the author assembles a three-step process to guide women through their own transformations. Seller Inventory # 0035416
Changing life roles can lead to an almost traumatic crisis of identity for many women. After a nasty redundancy, a high flying client felt empty and useless, pessimistic about her future career. A news article featured the wives of wealthy men marooned in their large house and self medicating with shopping, alcohol etc. to ease their loneliness and boredom as children become increasingly independent and their sense of value and purpose slipped away. Some women are in danger of losing everything that is important to them such as loved ones, families or careers, often leaving a trail of hurt and destruction behind them. Others quietly put up with their changing life roles, sliding into various degrees of depression without even realising it and occasionally wondering 'Who am I? What is life about?' en route. This book is a practical, fun drive through many of the issues which create a wobble. Having trained and re-trained in various skills, psychological and coaching tools, I've taken those that bring most lasting change and assembled them into a three-step process to guide you through your own transformation. It is the result of seventeen years of working with hundreds of women and my own experiences of working through life's wobbles to ÿ nd that moment when it seems like a light has gone on in a darkened room.
About the Author: Fi Ivin is an author, speaker, trainer, coach and stylist. She originates from South Cheshire and unintentionally fell into teaching at secondary level as a safe way of pursuing her love of drama and keeping family happy! Compromising on something so important was the beginning of a ‘wobble’. After having her front door kicked in by the brother of a pupil (he was arrested in her hallway the following evening!) it was time to consider other options. She later studied for a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, took charge of pastoral care in the school where she was employed and moved into health promotion at national level. Moving from Hertfordshire to Buckinghamshire brought new challenges with the unexpectedly early and slightly complicated arrival of her son after a house move that went awry a few days before. She’s spent the last seventeen years as a coach and stylist working with hundreds of women, from senior directors of international companies to mums feeling redundant as their children grow into increasing independence, worked through her own wobbles and has trained and re-trained. In this time she has accrued lots of skills, resources and tools and taken those that bring lasting change and assembled them into a three-step process of very practical steps for women who are experiencing their own crisis of identity because of change to their personal lives or careers. Fi is married and lives in South Bucks with her husband and son. You can make contact with her via www.womenonawobble.com
