About the Author

Pat Armstrong is a Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology at York University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. She is the author of numerous books and articles in health and gender and has held a Canada Health Services Research Foundation/Canadian Institute of Health Research Chair in Health Services. Ann Pederson is the Director of Population Health Promotion at BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre. She worked for over 17 years at the British Columbia Centre of Excellence for Women's Health and is currently completing a doctorate at the University of British Columbia in sex, gender, and health promotion.
