Synopsis
I consider the poetry appearing in this book to be a little different from most of the poetry I write. Usually, I write about a person, a place, a thing, or an event, and try to describe them in some detail, and all of which occur in the context of my everyday life. I consider the poems in this book to be of a more esoteric nature, seeking as their subject matter my thoughts or feelings about a person, place, a thing or an event. Here, I attempt to delve below the skin, so to speak, and attempt to uncover the true nature of those people, places, things and events by projecting myself inside these subjects and examining the where, the how and even the why of their very existence. Some of these poems are based on sheer fantasy where I have let my mind careen across the landscape of a particular object or event that I imagine could exist, whether in reality it actually could, or could not. In other instances I have taken a real event, perhaps one that actually did occur in my life, or at least an event that could have transpired thusly, and attempted to examine a possible alternate outcome of that particular reality. In some cases, I have simply set up a what-if scenario and then tried to draw it to its logical conclusion. But in every case, I have unleashed my mind to examine the world around me in an alternate reality from the one that I have personally experienced, sometimes mundane and humdrum, perhaps, but sometimes fluid and perhaps even noble. At any rate, you may not comprehend the morale of every poem in this book, but that’s okay, because you don’t have to. Just let your own mind wander and enjoy these passages for the reason they were intended, to entertain and perhaps, even to pose a few questions of their own.
