Basic teaching primer for Signed English. 15 topical chapters, each containing vocabulary words, illustrations, review, exercises, games, and assignments that students and teachers will find exciting. Over 500 illustrations. Index included.
Review: Learning to sign can be beneficial not only as a way to communicate with those who are hearing impaired, but also as a way to think about language from a different, non-verbal perspective. With 15 lessons covering topics like colors, transportation, people, wild and domestic animals and emotions, this book teaches over 480 words in sign language. Each lesson begins with a quick review and introduces new signs; provides exercises, games and sentences for practice; and finishes with a pictorial vocabulary list which shows the hand motion for signing specific words. So lucid and well done is this guide I decided to purchase one for myself. -- From The WomanSource Catalog & Review: Tools for Connecting the Community for Women; review by SH
