Words Like Pebbles: The Poetic Voice of Three Generations

The poems in this book, most of them tucked away in diaries, old notebooks, and journals, were written over a span of sixty years. The women who wrote them were born in a century of great events, and their lives in turn were shaped by its significant discoveries and inventions, such as the automobile, the telephone, Salk vaccine, household appliances, television, space travel, the computer chip. Listen to the poetic voice of Abbie, Linda, and Jessica as it echoes across three generations. Although style and form differ, common themes of expression emerge in their efforts to capture in a finite space the vastness of human experience.
