A very scarce volume from the Clarendon Press Series, containing William Wordsworth's poems 'The White Doe of Rylstone', 'The Force of Prayer' and 'Song at the Feast of Brougham Castle'. William Angus Knight (1836-1916) was best known for his works on Wordsworth, including 'Wordsworthiana' and 'The English Lake District, as Interpreted in the Poems of Wordsworth', among seven others. In this work, he provides a fascinating introduction to the poems, offering some insight into the context in which they were written, and detailed notes on each of the poems in turn. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with faint marks to the boards and light shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Offsetting to the end papers.
