The text provides readers with an extensive introduction to the field of work practice in occupational therapy through examination of the many factors which shape current therapeutic interventions.

* international interdisciplinary contributing authors
* cross-cultural comparison of practice;
* strong application to occupational therapy practice;

Bringing together a number of both prominent and new authors and practitioners for a comprehensive discussion of the occupational performance area of work, its international perspective offers an opportunity for readers to join in the endeavour to find shared meanings in the practice of occupational therapy across five countries.

The social, historical and legislative features of our environment provide context for subsequent descriptions of intervention programs used in current practice to help clients address neuromusculoskeletal, cognitive or psychosocial performance deficits. Because professional practice must be attuned to transition and change, the text provides information on topical methods of assessment and outcome measurement, and concludes with a review of issues likely to have a future impact on practice.
