How to Work for a Woman Boss: Even If You'd Rather Not

Describes the difficulties women executives face, looks at various management styles, and includes practical advice for getting along with female superiors

Bern bases this guide on her experiences as head of her own advertising/community-relations firm. Presented are interviews with approximately 200 men and women, among them Anna Zaremba, first female warden of an all-male prison, and Heather Campbell, the only female supervisor among 2500 agents in a drug-enforcement agency. The women articulate their strategies for overcoming male chauvinism and for effectively using power. Workers of both sexes express their opinions on women as superiors, and questionnaires are included to enable readers to do likewise. The book is lively reading and a veritable course on how to create harmony in the workplace.
