The Little Wandle Handwriting Programme, produced by Collins in collaboration with Little Wandle, provides a structured and systematic approach to teaching handwriting. Written by experts at Little Wandle, the programme is based on the latest research into effective handwriting instruction.

The programme combines supportive teaching guidance with high-quality, engaging workbooks designed to develop pupils’ confidence and control. This write-in workbook offers a complete, carefully sequenced progression for forming, practicing, and reviewing handwriting patterns, helping pupils build the foundational skills needed for fluent letter formation.

Each session includes a Pattern Check-Up box to support regular review and consolidation, while additional practice pages at the back of the book provide further opportunities for reinforcement. Designed for ease of classroom use, this workbook supports consistent practice and steady progress in early handwriting development.

Rachel Davis is the co-founder of the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics Programme, a comprehensive early reading program used widely in schools. She has spent 36 years in education, including 20 years as headteacher of an outstanding primary school in Birmingham and 12 years as an Ofsted Inspector. Rachel has also served as a National Leader of Education, supporting schools in challenging circumstances to raise and sustain standards. She brings extensive leadership, inspection, and classroom experience to her work in literacy and phonics.

Manreet Ratan is a qualified teacher and experienced education consultant with a background in English leadership across a range of school contexts. Specializing in literacy, she has supported schools nationally, providing expert guidance on effective English teaching. With a strong understanding of English and the pedagogy underpinning high-quality literacy provision, Manreet works with schools to strengthen practice and improve outcomes in reading, phonics, and writing.
