6 working cardboard models, together with the 32 page illustrated explanatory booklet. Oblong 8vo, blue printed paper wrappers, sewn (edges of booklet covers are chipped but otherwise near fine, although lacking the original cardboard box. Manchester and London: John Heywood, 1902. A very good copy of this uncommon item -- an interesting example of paper engineering. An unusual educational device, used to show the workings of piston and steam engines and valves. The intricate models are comprised of riveted printed cardstock, demonstrating the active engine parts. The 6 plates are in excellent working order, but lacking the original cardboard box.
