This text has been developed to meet the demands of instructors across the country for an innovative approach to the teaching of keyboarding in the context of the automated office, where the fast pace of technological change has perhaps been the most evident. Until now, instructional programs in typewriting have concentrated only on the keyboard and proper placement of documents on the page, treating the equipment and the process of using it only incidentally. This book is a multicomponent program that fully integrates mastery of the keyboard with the ability to process documents on sophisticated office equipment. Unlike the familiar typewriting programs that offer traditional keyboarding instruction (and their more recent editions, which offer word processing notes as postscripts), this program offers more than a cursory look at modern means of communication. Thoroughly classroom tested, it is competency-based and specifically designed to meet the needs of today's instructors and their students for materials that provide a realistic, coherent approach to the mastery of modern communication skills. Level 1, published in February 1986, and level 2 are now available as a 2 part set.
