First edition. Green cloth stamped in black and gilt with decoration of drafting table and instruments. 280 pps with index plus 12 page catalogue of tools and instruments, 12 page catlogue of Weale's instructiuonal scientific books and 32 pgs. publisher's catalogue dated August, 1871. Errata slip tipped in at p.84; illustrated throughout with diagrams. There are also 7 plates, of which five are folding plates (plate six, one of the folding plates, preceedes plates three through seven, presumably a binder's error. A tight copy with gilt bright, just a touch of rubbing to the cover design. Very lightly bumped at the tips with very minimal wear. In all, a very nice copy indeed of the scarce first edition of this classic 19th century engineering reference work.
