About this Item
A very scarce work detailing the Workmen's Compensation Act of 1897, with introduction and notes by advocate Alexander Taylor. An act dealing with the rights of workers to gain compensation if injured at work, it made a departure from the previous Employer's Liability Act, which required the worker to sue their employer to provide proof of injury, and thus allowing them to merely show the authorities directly that they had been injured on the job. An important document of the early labour movement in Britain. In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally quite smart, there are some markings to boards, as well as wear to extremities and joints. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are largely bright and clean thoughout, aside from some light foxing to endpages. There are library bookplates to endpages and pastedown and an ink inscription to front free endpaper. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # GEN37-D-14
