Hannah More was an English religious writer and philanthropist. She wrote as a poet, playwright as well as an author on moral and religious subjects. More began her career writing plays and swiftly became involved with the literary elite in London, eventually becoming a leading member of the Bluestocking group. Her plays and poetry moved to being more evangelical as she became part of an anti-slave trade movement. a full diced calf binding with gilt stamping to the spine and to the board edges. Externally, generally smart with light rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spines. Further patches of light rubbing to the extremities. Label to the front board of volume XI, '973'.
