Octavo, half bound in red leather and red cloth, spine has five raised bands, with titles lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, uppers edge gilt. Neat Owner's book plate on front pastedown. Engraved frontispiece portrait of Fielding with tissue guard. Frontipiece, tissue, and some pages throughout have damp staining. Fore edge of page block has damage to a section of about 40 pages. Otherwise in very good condition with rubbing to the extremities. Eighteenth century English jurist, novelist, and dramatist Henry Fielding produced dozens of plays and six novels throughout his lifetime, including his best-known work: The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling.
